Invoice generator for sole traders

Fill in the form and your invoice appears beside it, ready to print or save as a PDF. For UK sole traders who aren’t VAT registered. No account needed, and nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere: it stays in this page.

Made by Tuppin, software for sole traders: invoices, records and Making Tax Digital.

You

It goes under your name, never instead of it.

GOV.UK asks for contact details, so add an email address or phone number under the address. If you use a business name, the address must be one where legal documents can reach you.

The invoice

Every invoice needs its own number. Use the next one after your last invoice.

What an invoice must include

GOV.UK says an invoice must show:

  • a unique invoice number
  • your name, address and contact details, and any business name you use
  • your customer’s name and address
  • a clear description of what you’re charging for
  • the date of the work or delivery, and the date of the invoice
  • the amounts you’re charging, and the total owed

If you and your customer are both VAT registered, you must use a VAT invoice, which includes more information. This generator doesn’t make VAT invoices.
